Blog Link Popularity Is A Priority For Search Engine Rankings and Traffic

So you have set up a blog and now you want to get traffic, right? If you have a blog or website of any kind, traffic is an important factor. Whether you simply want a blog that gets a lot of comments, or if you are blogging to make some extra money, traffic is the key ingredient to success.

One crucial step in getting this much needed traffic is by increasing your blogs link popularity. What exactly is link popularity? Quite simply, it is getting links back to your blog from other sites on the internet, and getting as many of these "backward links" as you possibly can. Having a large number of high-ranking sites linking back to your blog increases your blogs ranking and importance in the search engines, as well as send traffic to your blog via the sites that your link is posted on. Of course, you can always just start a blog or build a website and let it sit there, simply hoping for other bloggers or webmasters to accidently find your blog and decide that they want to link to it, but the chances of that happening are not very good.

So, how does a blog owner go about getting these backward links and build the link popularity of a blog? Well, there are several techniques or strategies that can be very helpful in accomplishing this goal of increasing your blog traffic. Many people tend to trade "reciprocal links" with other bloggers and website owners, and that is fine, but reciprocal links are not thought to be as valuable as one-way links as far as search engines are concerned. This does not mean you should completely abandon the idea of trading links with other sites, because those links can still be valuable.

Some of the better link-building strategies you should consider using are article marketing and posting relevant comments to other peoples blogs, social networking sites, and as I have already mentioned, trading reciprocal links. Take all of these strategies into consideration, and don't give up! Keep blogging, keep reading and posting to other peoples blogs, but do not spam! If you keep these things in mind, and continue to stay up-to-date in the ever changing "Blogosphere" then you will be on the path to being a successful blogger.
