Interview with AdultWebmasterNet owner.

Dear Bike, I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to ask you a series of questions related with your operating business field. For those of you not knowing him, Bike is the owner of one of the largest adult free site empires called AdultWebmasterNet.

1) How long ago did your start building adult free sites? Do you have any business partner?
We started our first TGP's early 2002. Searchgals.com and Newgals.com were the first 2 and pornstargals.com was launched short after those 2. So it's already 4.5 years ago now since we start our first adult site.
My business partner is Peter (SPete) and he's also my cousin.

2) When you are looking to promote the site of an affiliate program, what are the main characteristics you pay attention to?
I'm promoting every paysite out there as long as it has FHG's available. I don't like traffic leaks though, So every decent looking paysite (without spyware, toolbars etc) with FHG's will be promoted on our sites :) And uniques paysites will get their own niche/category on our sites (for example, wheelchair, leg cast or pedal pumping) so they will be promoted more than the usual big tits or mature site.

3) What's the most time consuming task that frequently take place in your traffic network? Do you have any custom automation that assists you or your employee(s)?
Finding new FHG's, writing descriptions for them and maintaining our gallery database is the most time consuming task right now. We have 6 employees in total and they take care off the FHG descriptions, accounting/administration work, thumb cropping and traffic management. And besides employees, we have scripts that take care off the rest of the work that needs to be done like updating our sites with fresh galleries.

4) I know you mainly focus on the creation and growth of multi-categories, text-based free sites. What are the benefits and disadvantages that arise from this decision?
Biggest advantage is that we know how to grow these multi-category TGP's, we've tried other layouts (thumb TGP for example) but none were as successful. Another big advantage is that SE's seem to love text-based TGP's :)

5) Do you feel generous enough today to share a tip or advice with the webmasters thinking to start their own free adult traffic network today?
Sure, my best advice would be to start a whole new kind of site like we did with multi-category sites in the past. Surfers love new ideas & layouts and they're gonna come back to your site(s) if you offer them something new. And my 2nd advice is to think BIG. Why would you work on 1 site for 2 years when you could have made 20 smaller TGP's in the same time? It's easier to make 20 times a 100k TGP's than 1 TGP with 1 million visitors a day.

6) I had a talk recently with one of the largest aff. program owners/ and he implied that summer slowdown in sales is often an excuse of some aff. programs to increase the shaving they commit. Does your business experience such slowdown in generated sales during summer?
We never really noticed a summer slowdown. Sure, sales go up and down all the time (a few % max.) but we work less during the summer so that could be a reason of this sales slowdown too. I can imagine people buy less porn memberships if the weather is good though so I have no reason to think it's because sponsors are shaving more these couple of weeks/months.

7) Approximately, what percentage of your traffic goes to revshare programs and what to PPS?
I would say it's 50/50. Most of the ccbill sponsors only offer revshare though and I think we have over 200 accounts there so it's probably more like 75/25. Anyway, I would always promote a sponsor like Porn Access or Brain Cash with revshare cause that's just making you more in the end. And in my opinion you will make more if you promote sponsors like Silver Cash and TCG with PPS payouts.

8) Most of us know you from your large network of sites you operate under AdultWebmasterNet. Do you own or operate any other online venture? If yes, what type of?
No, just the sites listed at AWN.

9) Have you considered selling gallery spots and/or traffic as an attempt to increase your network revenues?
Yes, we've considered selling partner accounts but our main concern is always the cheaters. So many cheaters are out there and the spyware is getting harder and harder to detect so we've decided to only send traffic to affiliate programs. We might start selling adspace on our sites in the future though (iframe adspace) but only to sponsors we already use and TRUST.

10) You are interested on the purchase of large and established free sites with an exception of blogs. What's the logic behind this?
Simple, we know how to run TGP's and don't know how to run blogs :) When we buy TGP's now, we put our own scripts on the sites and put them on "auto-pilot" so they won't cost us any time at all.

11) If you had a generous offer to sell your traffic network this moment, what would you do?
If the price is right, I would sell it without even thinking twice. Would like to start travelling, buy a 2nd house in a warm country and would spend a nice chunk of money on cars. And perhaps think about starting another adult network in 3 years and try to do it all over again :)
