Interview with Ann
There are numberless interviews with models on the Internet and most of the interviewers usually tried their best to get to know more about intimate details of models’ lives. This fact always surprised me because from my point of view it makes no difference in what poses a model achieves orgasm. I suppose that many of adult webmasters would like to know the character of a model (their thoughts, dreams and feelings) depicted in works of video and photo masters. However this subject is rarely covered.
In my opinion, models make the first link in a long chain on which our business is built. On the other hand, we, adult webmasters, find it difficult to identify models as individuals and to separate the idea that they are not all the same people with similar motives, dreams etc.
We met in the downtown of St. Petersburg. A pretty young lady, a bit confused by my examining look, was standing in front of me. Quickly, we found a calm, cozy and absolutely empty at that time of the day restaurant. While we were waiting for our order, we were chatting about abstract topics to get to used to each other and defuse possible tension. When we felt the warm and friendly atmosphere contributing to a confidential talk, I turned on a dictaphone and started asking questions.
Q: - What is your name?
A: - Anne
Q: - How old are you?
A: - I’ve just turned 22.
Q: - I know it’s a usual question which we can’t just pass. How did you get into this business?
A: - My good friend suggested me to try this job. I was looking for a place to work at that moment and model’s career seemed a good way to earn some money for living.
Q: - Can it be true that you agreed right away? Was your friend that authoritative?
A: - Well, I don’t know…probably because I trusted her that’s why… I thought: “Why not?” I didn’t consider that there is something wrong with being a model and work in adult business.
Q: - I heard that lots of people came into this business like you did. Is it true?
A: - Yeah, a lot of them. Most of the people I know came into this business on friends’ advice.
Q: - For how long have you been working as a model?
A: - Since I was 20…2 years already.
Q: - Did you get an education?
A: - Unfortunately, it didn’t work out. But my whole life is still before me to get a good education.
Q: - Only secondary school?
A: - Yes.
Q: - Do you have a dream which if it comes true, you will consider that your life is completed?
A: - Difficult to say…probably, not. I can’t decide what I want to do in my life. So I just live, work and relax.
Q: - So, have you got into a groove? Am I right?
A: - I’m just slowly drifting with the current.
Q: - Can you tell that you like what you’re doing?
A: - Basically, yes. I’m pretty satisfied with my job and it brings me enough money to live on my own. What else do you need?
Q: - People say that good work is that when it brings moral satisfaction. Are you often satisfied not only because of received money but from doing a good job?
A: - It happens but rarely. I get more satisfaction from having a rest.
Q: - Do you get tired a lot?
A: - Not too.
Q: - So, can you say that what you’re doing is a hard physical job just like a usual one?
A: - Not, really. Everything is within the norm.
Q: - Has your attitude towards men changed when you started working in this industry?
A: - No, why should it? Men are men by their nature with their advantages and weaknesses. Honestly speaking every person is special, and you can hardly judge all men by a single one.
Q: - Towards women?
A: - I think it did change towards women a bit.
Q: - How come?
A: - I’m not sure. It just changed for some reason. I’m not meaning in terms of sex. My attitude changed toward their work.
Q: - In which way? Good or bad?
A: - Definitely in a good way. Now I have more respect for working women. Indeed, women can and should earn their own money for living.
Q: - What about your attitude towards sex? Has it changed?
A: - It hasn’t changed at all.
Q: - Do sex in you personal life and work differ?
A: - In life and work? It definitely differs!
Q: - So, there is sharp distinction. Adult webmasters are often questioned if their work influences their private life. What can you say about it?
A: - My work doesn’t influence my private life because these are completely different things. I never mix these things under no circumstances. Sex at work differs from sex with a beloved man. I mean, work is work and I only need it to earn money.
Q: - Do you work only with Russians?
A: - No. I tried to work with Americans too.
Q: - Did you feel any difference?
A: - I think that Americans are ruder than Russians are. Americans I worked with didn’t treat me with respect and I felt like I was just a necessary filming object for them. On the other hand, it was really easy to deal with Russians because most of them were nice to me.
Q: - Did you work with a lot of male models? Can you say that there were men you liked to work with more than with the others?
A: - I’ve never thought about it. I can’t remember anyone with whom I wouldn’t like to work in the future, but there is one man who is filmed often and is in great demand. I really love to work with him.
Q: - What can you say about cameramen?
A: - They are all the same for me. I don’t have any preferences.
Q: - What do you think, is there the future in Russian adult business?
A: - Sure, there is. This business prospers with every day. I think adult industry will exist forever because there will be always people interested in porn.
Q: - Do you think that legalization of adult business in Russia is not far off?
A: - I think so. Well, it’s not a crime.
Q: - Do you want it to be “pure” and legal? Why?
A: - Yeah, I do. It would be much easier for both models and producers. Besides, I would have medical insurance provided by the government and social security.
Q: - But in this way you will have to pay taxes! Are you ready to give a part of your income to the government to be socially secured?
A: - Only if I shouldn’t give a half of my income. I can give a part of it, I’m not greedy.
Q: - Russia exempts 13% of the average worker’s wage. Can you afford it?
A: - Quite easily.
Q: - Does anyone from your friends or relatives know what you’re doing for living?
A: - I hope not. All my relatives are in Ukraine right now and I don’t talk to them quite often.
Q: - How do you think they will react when they find out about your job?
A: - They probably wouldn’t understand the reasons to the last.
Q: - Are you worried about this possible situation and the problems it might bring?
A: - Surely. I’ll be ashamed at the start because I’ll have to explain everything to my parents. They are much older, they were raised in a different time and they have completely different insight about life. But if they find out, I’ll have to tell and explain them everything.
Q: - Do you have a boyfriend and long-term relationships?
A: - Now? No, I don’t.
Q: - It didn’t work out, right?
A: - My long-term relationships didn’t work out. They finished a year ago and I’m not quite ready to start new ones.
Q: - Why? Did you job affect them somehow?
A: - No. It’s a private thing.
Q: - Did he know what you were doing for living?
A: - I guess he had some thoughts but then stopped fighting it. Everyone gets used to something, he got used too.
Q: - Do you think you know more about sex than a usual person? Will it have influence on your family life?
A: - I don’t think so. But if it influences, I hope only in a good way. I have much experience and know how to use it.
Q: - Do you know who adult webmasters are and what they are doing?
A: - No, I don’t. I never was into it.
Q: - So, it means that your work based on the principle “modelcameraman”. Am I right?
A: - Sure. Why should I care about postproduction? It is unlikely that somebody will offer me sales commission.
Q: - How can you describe people you have to work with?
A: - I don’t know. I’m not much interested in that. They are just my co-workers with whom I just deal with.
Q: - Do you hang out with other models?
A: - No, because there are always different people at shooting.
Q: - Do you mean that there is no communication between models at all?
A: - No. We only talk during shooting. That’s it!
Q: - Do you have any friends amongst other models except the one who brought you into adult business?
A: - Yeah! My best girlfriend and other girls. A while ago I was sharing one apartment with another model. However, I’m not sure if she still works in adult biz.
Q: - Do models consider their job as a longterm and serious one or it’s just a temporary way to make some money?
A: - I guess that most of the models think about it as a temporary job. I also hope to find another place to work, more stable one.
Q: - Do you know that only models who have been serious to this business from the beginning have become rich and popular in US? What is your opinion about it?
A: - Americans make a contract with a model and pay them much more, while a Russian model has to work on her own. We have completely different conditions for work. Besides, my profession has never been considered as a prestigious one.
Q: - Are you planning to rise to eminence in your profession?
A: - I’ve never thought that this job can give me more in the future than now. I like what I’m doing at the current moment but I don’t know what will happen later on.
Q: - What kind of job would you like to have in the future?
A: - I don’t really know. I guess I want to do nothing and get money from it or probably get successfully married.
Q: - Do you believe in love?
A: - Yes, I do believe and hope to meet it one day.
Q: - Does your job influence your belief in good people?
A: - Of course, not. Every person has something good even though you can’t notice it from the first sight.
Q: - Thank you for the interview, Anne. It was really interesting to know your opinion about out common business.
A: - No problem. I hope that readers of the magazine will like it.
All-in-all, despite of the fact that this girl was not really talkative, I’ve learned something new. I hope, you enjoyed it as much as I did.
Best regards.
